About this Item

HP ELITEBOOK 745 AMD A10 PRO PROCESSOR,8GB RAM,500GB HDD,14″ Processor An APU from AMD is installed in the EliteBook. It is based on AMD’s new Kaveri architecture and is dubbed A10 Pro. The “Pro” in the name indicates that the APU is primarily aimed at business customers. AMD guaranties its high stability and durability. The CPU part of the APU is a quad-core processor that clocks with a base speed of 1.8 GHz. Its speed can be accelerated up to 3.3 GHz via Turbo. The APU’s TDP of 19 watts is slightly higher than Intel’s ULV processors of the Haswell generation (15 watts). Graphics Card The installed AMD APU adds a Radeon R6 (Kaveri) graphics core to the EliteBook’s innards. It supports DirectX 11.2 and clocks with up to 554 MHz. 3DMark 2011 is suitable for assessing the power of a graphics core because the CPU has relatively little impact on the test results. The Radeon GPU scores better in 3DMark 2011 than all current Intel GPUs. That is naturally also true for the HD Graphics 4400 core installed in the identically built EliteBook 840 (working memory operates in dual-channel mode). The dual-channel mode allows better usage of integrated GPUs, which leads to better 3DMark scores. The mode is enabled automatically when a second working memory is installed in a computer – providing the mode is supported. The APU in the EliteBook supports dual-channel mode. On the sides we get a total of four USB 3.0 ports, and a DisplayPort to compliment the VGA. To fit with some business use, the smart card reader is on the left, as well as the docking port on the right hand side between the circular power cable and the Ethernet port. The Ethernet port is interesting, given that in the ‘thin is best’ mantra for laptops an Ethernet port is quite bulky, so many devices eschew them all together and provide a USB-to-Ethernet adaptor. But instead we have an expanding Ethernet port which makes room for the RJ-45 connector. It saves having to remember another cable in the work bag. Mouse movement comes from both a trackpad and a nub in the center of the keyboard, with each having a mix and match set of left and right mouse buttons.

How are ratings calculated?

To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Dantty. It also analyzes reviews to verify trustworthiness.
